Some Events Around The World
Nepal
Deneth Piumakshi, Sri Lankan artist & Art Curator has been spreading the word of this day since 2006 in Nepal, Sri Lanka & Bhutan, while she travelled.
Being in India and meeting many artists and people who appreciate art, she decided to introduce this day here as well. Mrs. Manju Narain, (The owner of Studio 55 also an artist, music composer and a singer), who was very kind to offer the studio space for the celebration. In a very short span of time a few artist friends of mine and I, managed to organize this event.
Artists and art lovers from Indore, Bengal, Kashmir, Delhi, Sri Lanka, and France got together in the garden of Studio 55 sipping tea in this wonderful Sunday afternoon. We had a good discussion about the importance of celebrating such a day; bringing a sense of solidarity amongst the art lovers and artists all over the world.

Spain - Sitges
Sitges celebrates International Artist Day on October 25rd, in memory of the day Santiago Rusiñol came to town for the first time on October 23rd 1891. Sitges artists pay homage to Rusiñol through diverse plastic and literary events: Outdoor engravings, unveiling of the new mural at the "Pont dels ocells" (bridge of birds) and readings of texts by Rusiñol at different spots in Sitges.

Canada - North West Territories
For the second year in a row, Tsiigehtchic celebrated International Artist Day with an art display and food.
The event was hosted by Aurora College but held at the Chief Paul Niditchie school gym so more people could attend. A lunch of soup and bannock was served while international music played in the background.
While food was being served, a collection of artwork by local and international artists was on display. Local pieces included Gwich'in language flash cards printed on canvas, beadwork, stone carvings, and pottery.
"A large number of people volunteered to make this an enjoyable time for all who attended," said Aurora College instructor Sheila Curran.
Panama
You see it on almost every wall of every building. It is meant to please you, excite you and some cases it is meant to persuade you to buy something. What is it? It is art. To quote Panama City artist, Coqui Calderon, "Everything around us was designed by an artist." Coqui's vivid colored surrealist paintings are on display as part of the Global Bank collection. October the 25th has been earmarked as "INTERNATIONAL ARTIST DAY." Canadian painter Chris MacClure, started this event and now it is being celebrated throughout the world. Art showings are held across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Spain and even in the mountains of distant Nepal. Panama joined the list in 2008.
As a reporter I have been invited to several gallery openings and art showings and Panama continues to amaze me with its talent and diversity. The Chiriqui mountain towns of Boquete and Volcan can claim more than their share of art aficionados. Local art is on display in the Lachman Charete gallery on Boquete's main street and in the Cerro Brujo restaurant in Volcan.

Spain - San Miguel
San Miguel Spain will be hosting a special event in the main square on International Artist Day (Sunday 25th October) from Midday to 6 pm
Many artists of different nationalities and cultures will come together to exhibit and demonstrate their work and offer opportunities for people to get involved.
Spain - Costa Blanca
Having just built a new studio at my house in Rojales, Alicante on Spain's Costa Blanca, I had been planning to arrange a launch party, but have now decided to make it an IAD event if OK and invite other local artists - I run an artists networking website for Spain (www.CostaArt.Net) to each exhibit a work and, if they wish, run a small workshop during the day, whilst I'll supply free tapas & wine.
However I can't publicise the address on public sites being my own home, but will email it to anyone coming plus of course the local artists will publicize it to their groups and contacts.
